The Still Life Series is an exploration in depicting three-dimensional form and two-dimensional pattern. For me, patterns are an intriguing representation of both nature and culture: repeating and interlocking forms inspired by nature become an expression of the human experience of cycles--growth, change, death, rebirth. In this series, I am interested in re-presenting the original (plant or flower) and the derived (pattern) side by side. Textiles and other objects containing pattern have been deliberately painted in a flat manner, allowing the pattern to assume an abstract life of their own.

Landscape works were created plein air and completed in the studio.
